VERMILLION, S.D. – Senior Jaycee Schettler set three lifetime bests for the Omaha track & field team at the Dakota Realty Invitational at South Dakota on Saturday.

Schettler, competing in the pentathlon, set a lifetime best with an overall score of 3,076 which put her third.  She also put up a time of 9.38 in the 60 meter hurdles and a high jump mark of 4-10 ¼ as part of the event.  Those too were lifetime bests.

Kylie Johnson, making her collegiate debut in the pentathlon, finished fourth in the meet with a score of 3,028.

Taylor Ramaekers, also making her collegiate pentathlon debut, bested her previous lifetime bests in the high jump (5-03) and the long jump (17-02 ¼) en route to a seventh-place finish with a score of 2,950.

In the sprints, Carrie Simonson put up a season best time of 7.95 in the 60 meters, good for sixth place.  She also posted her fastest season-opening 200 meter time, clocking in at 26.20 to finish fourth.

"We had some really good performances today across the board," said head coach Chris Richardson.   "People fought hard in their events, and it's that drive that will help them improve.

"We talk about getting better from week to week and a lot of people showed that here today," he added.

In other field events, Kennedy Powell took third in the triple jump with a mark of 34-09.

In the high jump, the Mavericks finished 4-5.  Sheridan Rodriguez and Kaitlin Hellbusch both posted marks of 5-01 ½.  Rodriguez took fourth by virtue of doing so in fewer attempts.

The Mavericks with have two weeks off before returning to action at the SDSU Indoor Classic at South Dakota State on Friday, Feb. 12.
