OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swimming & diving team picked up a 150-144 win over the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday afternoon at H&K Pool.
The Mavericks' divers earned 32 points, sweeping both the one- and three-meter dives.
Darby Drake led the way, finishing first in both. She took the three-meter crown with 260.41 points.
Kady Eller was second at 248.77, and
Reece Cooper was third at 246.75
In the one-meter event, the trio finished in the same order. Drake won with 286.64 points. Eller was second at 257.02, and Cooper was third with 248.91.
UNO picked up an individual first place in the 100 breaststroke.
Annie Leinart won the event in a time of 1:08.17, just ahead of teammate
Jillian Altmaier whose time of 1:09.03 was good for second.
The Mavericks also got a win in the 400 IM when
Maddie Mather swam a time of 4:48.96.
Omaha began the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of
Megan Latta,
Caroline Gardner, Altmaier and
Morgan Baker took first in a time of 1:51.37.
The Mavericks had several top-three performances throughout the meet.
In the 1,000 Free,
Mallory Dickey took second in a time of 11:14.48. Gardner was second in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.16.
Latta and Caroline Dye finished 2-3 in the 100 backstroke. Latta put up a time of 1:01.13 while Dye swam a time of 1:02.38.
Parker Hagemann had a pair of runner-up finishes. She was second in the 50 free in a time of 25.93 and finished second in the 100 free with a time of 56.12. That put her just ahead of teammate
Riana Scott who finished third in 56.41.
In the 200 breaststroke, Gardner took second in a time of 2:28.79 while
Alyssa Parsons was third, swimming a time of 2:31.53.
Abigail Mitchell took third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.14 while
Carina Monroe earned third in the 500 free with a time of 5:29.97. Baker also picked up third in the 100 fly in a time of 1:02.34.
The Mavericks finished the meet with a 2-3 finish in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Baker, Gardner, Leinart and Parsons was second in a time of 1:41.44 while Hagemann, Mitchell, Scott and Dye were third at 1:43.02.
"We still have a lot of parts of our racing we need to work on," said head coach
Todd Samland. "Our practices this week are showing improvement and we saw some growth compared to last week.
"The effort needs to be consistent and progressing in order for us to be competitive in our conference."
The Mavericks travel to South Dakota for their next meet on Saturday, Feb. 6.
