OMAHA, Neb. – Nathan Reekie and
Matt Hulme are ranked No. 78 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association's doubles rankings, earning the first doubles ranking in program history.
"Hulme and Reekie are very deserving of this ranking," said assistant coach
Matthew Barlow. "They practice hard every day and are spend time outside of practice to work on their weaknesses. They are fun to watch because they bring a traditional serve-and-volley style to the match that opponents rarely see. Although they are excited with this accomplishment, I know they are looking to improve upon this ranking with a nationally-ranked Cal team coming up in our schedule."
Reekie and Hulme have teamed up to post a 4-4 overall record in No. 1 doubles matches with wins over Wichita State, Saint Louis, Green Bay and Tulsa.
"I'm very happy for Matt and Nathan,' said director of tennis
Adam Summitt. "They are worthy of this and I know they want to keep getting better. A lot of credit goes to coach Barlow with all the work he's put in with the guys this year. Barlow has been a fantastic addition and I know we will have more of these down the road."
The Omaha men's tennis team returns to the court on Friday, March 13 as the Mavericks host Kansas City at 6 p.m. at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
