FREMONT, Neb. – The Omaha swimming & diving team began the season with a pair of victories over Midland and Williams Baptist in a triangular at Midland on Saturday.
The Mavericks posted a 223-37 win over Williams Baptist and 211-62 victory over Midland to start the season 2-0.
"The swimmers and divers did a great job today," said head coach
Todd Samland. "It felt so good to get the season started. I am very proud of the effort given by our team today. The willingness to push is there and today shows show much work we have ahead of us with our racing and conditioning."
Omaha totaled two relay victories and 12 individual event wins.
Megan Latta,
Caroline Gardner,
Parker Hagemann and
Abigail Mitchell clocked a time of 4:04.42 to capture the 400 medley relay win.
The quartet of Gardner, Hagemann,
Alyssa Parsons and
Annie Leinart teamed up to swim a 3:46.27 to win the 400 free relay.
Mitchell and
Bethany Gatlin led the Mavericks with two individual event wins apiece. Mitchell placed first in the 100 back with a swim of 1:00.41 while finishing with a time of 2:14.55 to capture the 200 IM victory.
Gatlin swept the 100 and 200 fly events with swims of 1:00.98 in the 100 fly and 2:19.23 in the 200 fly.
Jillian Altmaier clocked a 1:08.33 to win the 100 breast and Leinart posted a time of 2:26.83 to place first in the 200 breast.
Carina Monroe covered the pool in 11:24.48 to capture the win in the 1000 free while Gardner won the 50 free in 25.53 and Latta recorded a victory in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.58 to set a new pool record.
Kady Eller led the Mavericks in the 1-meter dive, winning the event with a score of 197.49.
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 7 when Omaha hosts Kansas in a dual at H&K Pool.
