OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha student-athletes posted the second-highest combined grade point average of the Division I era during the recently completed fall semester.
Omaha's 271 student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.411, a mark that's second only to the 3.429 earned in the spring of 2014.
"The success of our teams reflects the remarkable effort our student-athletes put toward their academic pursuits," said
Trev Alberts, Vice Chancellor of Athletics. "They are achieving at a very high level while balancing their time in class, practice, competition and community engagement. We are very fortunate to have so many motivated student-athletes.
"We also need to recognize the diligence and dedication of our academic support staff," Alberts added. "Our investment in academic success starts with the work they put in to help our athletes be successful."
"Reflecting the nature of athletics, this is a true team effort," said
Lindsey Ekwerekwu, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academic Success and Student-Athlete Development. "We have tremendous support and collaboration from across campus and buy-in from our coaches who are recruiting high academic achievers."
