OMAHA, Neb. – Despite scoring the first goal of the 2019 season, the Omaha men's soccer team couldn't tally its first of the season as the Mavericks played to a 1-1 draw vs. Columbia on Friday night at Caniglia Field.

How It Happened
- The Mavericks worked quick as Diego Gutierrez broke the scoreless tie in the third minute.
- Martin Veys volleyed a cross from the left corner to the back side of the box where a crashing Gutierrez blasted the ball into the center of the net for the quick lead.
- Columbia's first shot of the night landed on target, but Omaha goalkeeper Ugo Tritz prevented the Lions from getting on the board in the 8th minute.
- Veys picked up a burst of speed on the left side, sprinting past the Lion defense and firing a shot into the goalkeeper's hands in the 23rd minute.
- The Mavericks applied pressure early in the second half as Aaron Uribe deflected the goalkeeper's kick and nearly got the ball to bounce backwards into the goal before a leap Columbia defender registered the team save in the 47th minute to preserve the 1-0 score.
- Sebastian Gunbeyi chipped in a dribbling ball from three yards out from the goal to tie the match in the 79th match.
- UNO remained the aggressor in the first overtime, recording a 3-0 advantage in shots over the Lions.
- Columbia's goalkeeper was handed a red card in the 99th minute, allowing the Mavericks to with one-man advantage for the final 11 minutes of the match.
- Omaha posted a 4-0 advantage in shots over Columbia in the second overtime but couldn't net a goal to snag a home victory on Friday night.
