Scouting the CSUN Matadors
The CSUN Matadors were ranked No. 23 last week before falling in a pair of matches against Portland and No. 21 Loyola Marymount last weekend.
The Matadors have scored 21 goals in eight matches this season while taking 16.3 shots per match, including 42.3 percent of those on target. Seven different players have scored goals for CSUN this season.
The CSUN defense has given up 16 goals this season while recording one shutout. Opponents are shooting 12.4 shots per match, including 43.4 percent of those on goal. Goalkeeper Paul Lewis is 4-3-1 on the season with 26 saves, a .619 save percentage and 2.13 goals-against average.
Matadors to Watch
No. 10 Daniel Trejo – tied for third in nation with 18 points while tied for sixth in the country with seven goals.
No. 9 Johnny Rodriguez – ranked fifth in the country with 17 points and is tied for sixth in nation with seven goals.
No. 22 Julio Rubio – leads the country with seven assists on the season.
Omaha vs. CSUN
Omaha leads the all-time series with CSUN, 1-0-1. The Mavericks recorded a 4-1 victory over the Matadors on Sept. 6, 2015 in Omaha, Neb.
