Mavericks Add Five for 2019-20

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha head men's tennis coach Tyson Thomas announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2019-2020 season today. Matt Hulme, Yaswanth Mylavarapu, Alvaro Quintana, Mason Sniatynski and Ben Starman will join the team this fall.

"I am incredibly excited to get his recruiting class on campus," said Thomas.  "We have a blend of experienced transfers and freshmen who are going to have an immediate impact on our program.  All of them are great players and good character people who will help us continue to build a highly competitive team culture."

Both Hulme and Mylavarapu are transfers while the other three will be true freshman this fall.

Matt Hulme
Hulme will enter UNO as a junior this fall after two seasons at College of Coastal Georgia where he played No. 1 singles and doubles.  While there, the native of Brisbane, Australia earned an NAIA ranking of No. 2 nationally.

Yaswanth Mylavarapu
Mylavarapu will come to UNO as a redshirt sophomore after beginning his college career at Midwestern State (Division II).  He was a three-time all-state selection at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kan. where he was a two-time first team all-state selection and helped the school to a pair of Class 6A state championships.

Alvaro Quintana
Quintana, a left-handed player from Zaragoza, Spain, has been ranked as high as No. 180 in his native country.  He also has won multiple tournaments in his region.

Mason Sniatynski
A native of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Sniatynski is a three-star recruit who finished his high school career as the No. 3 overall player in the state.

Ben Starman
Starman is the top-ranked player in Nebraska for the class of 2019.  The Omaha native graduated from Millard North High School where he finished fourth at No. 1 singles in the 2018 season with a 31-6 record.
