OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women's tennis dropped a Saturday afternoon match against Western Illinois, 4-3, at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
The Mavericks won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. The duo of
Ines Absisan and
Emily Behling won first at No. 3 by a score of 6-1 and
Janelle Wilson and
Savanna Crowell's 6-4 win at No. 2 gave Omaha a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles action, Western Illinois tied the score at 1-1 after
Justine Linscott was defeated 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6. Omaha earned its second point on Wilson's 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 1, and then built a 3-1 lead with
Natalie Lorentz' 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2.
The Leathernecks, however, clinched the next three points at No. 5 when Crowell dropped a 6-2, 7-6 (4) decision and
Marie Kapelevich fell in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3. The final WIU point came at No. 4, when Behling was edged 7-6 (4), 7-5.
