Women's Tennis Drops Matches to Chicago State, Marquette

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis program dropped a pair of home matches Saturday at Miracle Hill tennis center.

The Mavericks fell 4-3 against Chicago State earlier in the day, and lost 4-0 to Big East opponent Marquette later on.

MATCH ONE
The Mavericks fell behind 1-0 after the Cougars clinched the double point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. In singles action, the Mavericks picked up three points. At No. 1, Janelle Wilson won her match 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) in three sets, while Natalie Lorentz also won at No. 2, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. The final Maverick point came off Clare Crockett's 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) win at No. 5.  

The Cougars, however, were able to win the match with victories at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 for the last three points.

MATCH TWO
Omaha lost the doubles point to the Golden Eagles at No. 1 and No. 3. At No. 2, Wilson and Emily Behling won their match 6-5. For singles competition, Marquette picked up three points to clinch the match.
In singles, Wilson fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Lorentz dropped a 6-2, 6-2 result at No. 2 and Justine Linscott fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6. Behling was ahead in the second set of her match, 4-2, at No. 4, but it was left unfinished.

LOOKING AHEAD
Omaha now sets its sights with a road trip to Denver in its Summit League opener. The first serve is scheduled for Friday, March 15.
