Swimming and Diving Gears Up For Summit League Championships

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swimming and diving program gears up for The Summit League Championships Wednesday, Feb. 20, through Saturday, Feb. 23 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

What to Watch For
Earlier this season against Northern Iowa, Annika Clinton and Madeline Taylor both qualified for the NCAA Diving Zone cuts in the 1-meter on Oct. 5. Clinton Clinton won the event and totaled a 1-meter dive score of 272.40 while Taylor finished runner-up and tallied a 267.89 total score. To qualify, an athlete must record a score of 265 or better event. Thus far, Clinton has totaled three Summit League Diver of the Week awards and event victories.

Rachel Morrow earned Summit League Swimmer of the Week honors on Dec. 21, 2018. This season she has three event victories in the 50 free 100 free and 200 free, as well as a win in the 500 free.

Teammate Kylie Vermeire has a four wins in the 1000 free, two wins in the 500 free, and one apiece in the 200 free, 200 back and 1650 free.

Last time out
The Omaha swimming & diving team wrapped up competition at the South Dakota Coyote Invitational and the UIC Diving Invite Saturday, Feb. 2.

In Sioux Falls, the swimmers came into the second day of the meet after posting impressive results from the night before. Over the two-day span from Feb. 1-2, the Mavericks placed 41 top-10 and 25 top-five efforts across 19 different events. The Mavericks also posted three event victories and five runner-up finishes.
