SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Ed Gordon,
Stevie Siy and
Martin Veys earned a spot on the 2019 Summit League Men's Soccer Academic All-League Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
A total of 13 student-athletes were named to the team and honored for their academic and athletic performances this season.
This marks the second consecutive season of being named to the team for Gordon and Siy while Veys earned his first appearance on the list.
Gordon carries a 3.82 grade-point average in business administration while appearing in 17 matches for the Mavericks this season. The Omaha, Neb., native started in eight matches, dishing out one assist on the year.
Siy holds a 3.75 GPA in cybersecurity while leading the back line of the Maverick defense this season. The Omaha, Neb., native started 16 matches for Omaha and was second on the team with 1,405 minutes this season.
Veys has a 3.82 GPA in business administration while earning his first Academic All-League honor. The Caen, France, native was second on the team with three assists on the season while making 16 appearances, including 11 starts for the Mavericks.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The all-league team is made up of the 11 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
