Divers Compete at Phill Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas – Three members of the Omaha swimming and diving program competed at the Phill Hansel Invitational hosted by Houston on Thursday in Houston, Texas.

Reece Cooper, Kady Eller and Natalie Wright represented the Mavericks in the one-meter dive on Thursday.

The event featured 45 divers from across the country in the preliminary round, fighting for a top-24 spot to reach the semifinals.

"I am very proud of our group today," said assistant coach Eric Sprague. "There were 45 girls from 10 teams across the country and our girls were right in the mix, going dive-to-dive with them. This was their first experience at a large invite at this level and was a great learning experience for our freshman. They should feel confident in their diving as the season progresses."

Cooper finished with 202.90 points to place 28th and lead the Mavericks.

"I was happy to see Reece in her first collegiate competition today," added Sprague. "She's been hampered by an injury and did some good things with very limited training."

Eller placed second among the Maverick divers, totaling 193.30 points to finish 31st while Wright posted a 39th-place finish with a score of 181.30.

The Mavericks continue action at the Phill Hansel Invitational with the three-meter dive tomorrow at noon.
