ERIE, Colo. – Senior Witchayapat Sinsrang is 11 under par after two rounds and leads all players at the Mark Simpson Invitational at Colorado on Monday.

Sinsrang shot a six-under round of 66 to open the tournament, matching his school record for lowest round relative to par, and came back with a five-under 67 to sit at 133 through the first 36 holes.  He has a one stroke lead on two other players.

The Mavericks shot 287 in the first round and came back with a school-record team total of 279 in round two for a total of 566.  That ties them with UT Arlington for sixth place in the 12-team event.  Colorado leads at 556.  Utah State is second at 560, and Grand Canyon is third, one stroke back.

"This was a great day today, especially the afternoon round which was the lowest in school history," said Seth Porter, head coach.  "This type of round hopefully proved to the team that they are capable of shooting, not just under par, but quite a bit under par.

"(Sinsrang) was incredible today.  When he gets in a groove like that, we just sit back and let him do his thing," Porter continued.  "It was extremely fun to watch and great to see the other four guys show up with under par rounds as well. It was a total team effort today."

Indeed, all of the Mavericks were sharp, particularly in the second round.  Nick Kagy was even par for the day, shooting 74 to open and coming back with a two-under score of 70 to put him at 144, good for a tie for 28th.

Josh Peters was third on the team and tied for 31st overall after shooting 73 and even-par 72 for a total of 145.  Phoomintr Kaewvichien is one stroke behind after carding scores of 76 and a two-under 70 for a total of 146.  He's in a tie for 37th.

Josh Bartels closed the team scoring for UNO with rounds of 74 and 75 to put him at 149, good for a tie for 52nd.

The final round begins on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. CT from the Colorado National Golf Club.
