Omaha Looks Ahead To South Dakota In League Action

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball program enters the weekend with its lone Summit League match against South Dakota on the road. The Mavericks and Coyotes face off Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. (CST) in Vermillion, S.D. For more information on links to live stream and stats, visit the OMavs.com volleyball schedule page. 

OPENING SERVE
• Omaha enters its second week of Summit League play with a 2-1 overall record. 
• The Mavericks are coming off a 3-2 loss against Oral Roberts on the road Tuesday night. 
• Omaha and South Dakota meet for the first time this season. Omaha is 9-8 overall while the Coyotes post a league-best 13-1 overall record. 
Sadie Limback is the current Summit League Offensive Player of the Week after her performances in the first two matches of the season. 
• Limback currently posts 3.19 kills per set, which ranks second behind Isabella Sade's 3.39 per set. 
• As a team, Omaha still ranks third in the nation for total service aces with 123. 
Claire Mountjoy ranks third in the league with 4.54 digs per set and she is The Summit League leader with 295 total digs. 
• Both teams split last season's meetings. Omaha defeated South Dakota 3-1 on the road, but the Coyotes followed up with a 3-0 win against Omaha on Senior Day inside Baxter Arena. 
• Omaha has played five sets in five of its last seven matches. The Mavericks are 1-4 in those recent contests. 

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA
The South Dakota Coyotes are the defending Summit League Tournament Champion after earning the No. 2 seed and knocking off league favorite Denver last season. This year, South Dakota is off to an incredible start at 13-1. 

Their lone loss is to Iowa State (3-0). The team also has a Power Five win over Iowa (3-2) this year. USD has swept five of its 14 opponents in straight sets this season. Anne Rasmussen leads the conference and ranks second in the nation with 4.71 digs per set. She has also won Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks. Omaha is 58-20 all-time against South Dakota. 

SET IT UP, SAMI! 
Freshman Sami Clarkson took over the starting setter duties on Sept. 13 against Creighton. Since her debut, the freshman has four double-doubles this season. Clarkson notched her first-career double-double of 39 assists and 11 digs in the 3-0 win over Drake on Sept. 14. The Omaha native has notched back-to-back double-doubles on two separate occasions this season. Clarkson notched a career-high 58 assists with 11 digs in the 3-1 win over North Dakota State on Sept. 29. So far, she has six matches of 50-plus assists, in which the last five have happened consecutively.

LOOKING AHEAD
Omaha volleyball has a week off before a pair of matches next week. The Mavericks travel to Western Illinois Friday, Oct. 11, before they return home for a Sunday, Oct. 13, matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne. For more information, visit OMavs.com.
