Mavericks Play Host To Denver In Tuesday Night Showdown

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball program meets up with Denver for a crucial Summit League showdown Tuesday night, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. The match takes place inside Baxter Arena. 

OPENING SERVE
• The Omaha volleyball program is coming off a 1-1 weekend in conference action. 
• Omaha swept Western Illinois on the road but followed up with a five-set loss to Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon. 
• Of its 20 matches thus far, Omaha has played in nine that have gone five sets. 
• In those matches, Omaha is 2-7. 
Isabella Sade ranks third in the league and leads the team with an average of 3.50 kills per set. 
• The junior from Marion, Iowa recorded 22 kills two days ago against the Mastodons. 
• She now has three matches this season with 20-plus kills and is on a streak of seven-straight double-digit kill performances. 
• Sade also leads the league with 0.49 aces per set. 
• Freshman Sami Clarkson recently notched her fifth double-double of the year. 
• She tallied a career-high of 58 assists for the second time and a career-high of 13 digs against Purdue Fort Wayne. 
• Clarkson ranks second in the league with 10.87 assists per set. 
• Omaha looks to snap a seven-match skid to the Pioneers heading into this match. 
• The Mavericks last defeated Denver on Oct. 24, 2015, 3-0. 
• That same year, Omaha eventually fell to the Pioneers 3-2 in The Summit League Tournament Championship. 
• The Mavericks are currently in fourth place behind South Dakota (6-0), Purdue Fort Wayne (5-1) and Denver (3-2) in the Summit League Standings. 
• Omaha is 0-1 in Tuesday matches. The only other Tuesday match was a five-set loss to Oral Roberts on Oct. 1. 

SCOUTING DENVER
The Pioneers enter the weekend with an 11-6 overall record and a 3-2 standing in Summit League play. Denver is coming off a weekend win against North Dakota State in four sets. 

The Crimson and Gold had a solid offensive showing in the match, totaling 48 kills as a team, with senior Amanda Green leading the way with a team-high 13. Brianna Green continues to lead the team as well as the Summit League defensively averaging 1.41 blocks per set. Entering Tuesday's match the DU offense is averaging 12.1 kills per set, led by Bartalo who has a total of 181 kills on the year with an attack percentage of .175. Defensively the Pioneers enter Tuesday ranking second in the Summit League in blocks per set averaging 2.2.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Mavericks volleyball program has the weekend off and returns to action Monday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. Omaha welcomes South Dakota State inside Baxter Arena for Summit League play.
