Mavericks Fifth After Day One at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Omaha men's golf team holds down fifth place after the first two rounds of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State on Monday.

The Mavericks shot scores of 298 and 295 to put them at 593 for the 54-hole event at the RidgePoint Country Club.  The Mavericks have now posted six straight team scores under 300.

The host Red Wolves lead the 13-team event with a total of 555.  Oral Roberts is second at 568, and UT Arlington is third at 580.

Senior Witchayapat Sinsrang, who last week tied a school record for lowest 54-hole score, shot a six-over score of 78 in the first round but bounced back with a five-under total of 67 in round two that featured five birdies against no bogeys.  At 145, he's tied for 13th in the field of 74 golfers.

Nick Kagy is three strokes back at 148 after shooting rounds of 73, one over par, and 75.  He's tied for 26th.

Josh Peters fired an even-par round of 72 to open and came back with a 78 for a total of 150 that has him tied for 37th.  

Both Josh Bartels and Phoomintr Kaewvichien are tied for 48th with matching totals of 153.  Bartels shot rounds of 75 and 78 while Kaewvichien went 78-75.

Parker Waters, playing as an individual, shot 81 and 82 for a total of 163.

The final round begins Tuesday at 8:15 a.m.
