WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Omaha men's golf team shot its lowest team round of the wek to finish in a tie for seventh place at the Zach Johnson Invitational at Drake.
The Mavericks posted a round of 295 to give them a three round total of 909, tying them with Green Bay. Loyola-Chicago won the event with a score of 888. Valparaiso was second at 890, and Drake came in third at 896.
Nick Kagy had four birdies in his final round against three bogeys to finish at one-under 70, giving him a three-round total of 220. He finished in eighth place in the field of 75 golfers.
Witchayapat Sinsrang was second on the team and 18th overall with a score of 225. He concluded the tournament with a score of 75.
Freshman
Josh Peters was two strokes behind at 227. He carded a one-over round of 72 on day two to put him in a tie for 19th.
Josh Bartels tied for 55th with a score of 237, a total that included a final round of 78.
Parker Waters completed the scoring with a score of 257 that featured a third-round score of 87.
The Mavericks head west next week to take part in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in Boulder on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8.
