OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track and field program continues the indoor slate with a pair of meets this weekend.
On Saturday, Mavericks will be present at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet in Vermillion, S.D., while
Stephanie Ahrens competes in the high jump at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
The meet in South Dakota is set for a noon start time, while the high jump at Nebraska begins at 11:30 a.m.
Recently, the Mavericks competed in Lawrence, Kan., at the Jayhawk Classic last weekend. In the meet,
Emily Johnson, who came off a previous personal best and slid into fifth all-time for the 3000 meter run last weekend, improved her spot by winning the event. The sophomore set a new personal best of of 10:09.34 to win the event, besting her previous mark of 10:13.27.
In the field events, both
Anna Edet and
Stephanie Ahrens tallied runner-up finishes in the weight throw and high jump. Edet threw a distance of 56'10" (17.32m), while Ahrens jumped 5'8.50" (1.74m).
Following this weekend, the Mavericks travel to Maryville, Mo., for the two-day meet at Northwest Missouri State, Feb. 8-9.
