NORMAN, Okla. – The Omaha men's tennis team lost a 7-0 decision to No. 13 Oklahoma on Sunday.
With the loss, the Mavericks are now 0-2 on the season, while the Sooners improved to 4-0.
Oklahoma captured the doubles point with a pair of wins.
Razvan Grigorescu and
Davis Lawley fell 6-3 to Spencer Papa and Jake Van Emburgh at No. 1 doubles.
Matt Dunn and
Ethan Henry dropped a 6-2 decision to Mason Beiler and Jochen Bertsch at No. 3.
The Sooners swept the Mavericks 6-0 in singles.
Nathan Reekie put up a hard fought battle at No. 4 against Rafa Izquierdo before falling 7-6 (4), 7-5.
Abdoul Ouattara dropped a tight decision to Spencer Papa at No. 1, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Lawley also fell in a close match to Bertsch at No. 3, 6-2, 7-6 (4).
The Mavericks return to the courts on Sunday, Jan. 27 in Tulsa, Okla. Omaha faces Tulsa at 9 a.m. before playing Abilene Christian at noon.
