Mavericks Swept by No. 21 Oklahoma State in Season Opener

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Omaha men's tennis team lost its season opener to No. 21 Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Saturday.

With the loss, the Mavericks are now 0-1 on the season, while the Cowboys improved to 1-0.

Oklahoma State earned the doubles point by taking two of the three doubles matches.  Senior Matt Dunn and freshman Ethan Henry lost a 6-4 decision to Mathieu Scaglia and Luke Hammond at the No. 3 spot.  Juniors Nathan Reekie and Abdoul Ouattara lost to Artur Dubinski and Mateji Vocal 6-3 at No. 2.  The No. 1 doubles match between junior Razvan Grigorescu and freshman Davis Lawley and No. 31 Emile Hudd and Maxim Tybar went unfinished.

The Cowboys kept their momentum by sweeping all six singles matches.  Lawley lost a three-set match to Scaglia 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (9) at the No. 3 spot.  Nathan Reekie fell 6-1, 7-5 to Tybar at No. 4.

Omaha returns to the court on Sunday, visiting No. 13 Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., at 4 p.m.  Links to video and live stats will be available on OMavs.com.
