FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Omaha men's golf team opened the fall season with a 17th-place finish at the Ram Masters Invitational.
The Mavericks closed the 54-hole event with a team score of 304 to finish at 899. Host Colorado State won the tournament with a score of 836. Illinois State was second at 850, and South Dakota took third at 854.
Cole Christain led the Mavericks in scoring and finished in a tie for 58th in the 96-player field with a score of 222. He shot 79 in round three.
Witchayapat Sinsrang was second on the team and tied for 67th overall with a score of 225 that included a final round of 76.
Nick Kagy carded a 78 in round three and finished at 230, good for a tie for 82nd.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond closed with a 79 for a three-round total of 233, good for a tie for 90th.
Kevin Gordon received a disqualification for signing an incorrect scorecard in round two. He finished the tournament with a team-best one-over round of 71.
The Mavericks return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 24-25 at the Derek Dolenc Invitational at SIUE.
