FLOSSMOOR, Ill. – The Omaha men's golf team played its first two rounds of the fall season at the Ram Masters Invitational on Monday.
The Mavericks shot team scores of 298 and 290 over the first 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament, putting them at 588, good for 16th. Host Colorado State leads the 17-team event with a score of 547. Illinois State is second at 558, and South Dakota and Northern Colorado are tied for third at 568.
Cole Christain is UNO's top scorer after the first two rounds with scores of 73 and 70 for a total of 143, good for a tie for 27th in the 96-player field
Kevin Gordon is one stroke back at 144 after shooting scores of 73 and 71. He's tied for 39th.
Witchayapat Sinsrang, in his first tournament for the Mavericks, is third on the team and tied for 67th with a score of 149 that includes rounds of 76 and 73.
Nick Kagy, also playing his first event as a Maverick, is at 152 after carding back-to-back rounds of 76 to put him in a tie for 80th.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond is tied for 90th after shooting 76 and 78 for a total of 154.
The final round begins at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday at the Fort Collins Country Club.
