Warming Inks Six for Fall 2018

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha head coach Bob Warming announced the signing of six newcomers for the 2018 season on Monday.  The incoming fall class adds Adrian Felix, Mitch Hammer, Youde (Junior) Noutoua, Pierce O'Brien, Zach Robbins and David Salazar.

"We will continue to recruit locally and provide opportunities for our players to have a chance to improve within our program," said Warming.  "If they work hard and work together, they can achieve great things. I am excited about the group coming in as well as the outstanding work ethic and progress the returning players achieved this spring."

Warming's recruiting class includes two transfers and four freshmen, including one goalkeeper and five midfielders.

Felix comes to Omaha after a standout career at South High School, where he led the Packers to a 19-2 record his senior season in the net.  He posted 14 shutouts with a 0.49 goals-against average and 56 saves.  Felix is a three-time Academic All-State honoree and a member of the National Honor Society.

Hammer transfers to Omaha after playing one season at Oregon State where he helped the Beavers to a 7-11 overall record.  He appeared in 12 matches with one start and totaled 298 minutes on the pitch.  Hammer finished with two assists, including setting up the game-winning goal in overtime against No. 17 Cal on Oct. 19, 2017.  The incoming midfielder graduated from Shattuck St. Mary's (Minn.)

Noutoua comes to Omaha after graduating early from Omaha Northwest High School.  Prior to joining the Mavericks, he helped lead Creighton Prep to the 2017 state championship. Noutoua scored 12 goals and added 12 assists as a junior for Prep.

O'Brien makes the short jaunt across town after being a three-year starter at Creighton Prep High School.  He led the Junior Jays to one state championship and two runner-up finishes in his three years.  O'Brien tallied three goals and nine assists and garnered All-Nebraska Second Team honors during his senior campaign.

Robbins comes to UNO after a redshirt season at the University of Tulsa.  He was a four-year letterwinner at Burke High School where he scored 32 goals and 22 assists for 86 points in four years with the Bulldogs.  Robbins was a two-time All-State honoree and earned Super-State
All-Nebraska First Team honors following his senior campaign.

Salazar joins the Mavericks after a stellar career at Omaha South.  He was a three-year letter winner with the Packers.  Salazar tallied 23 points on 10 goals and three assists during his senior campaign while earning All-Nebraska Second Team honors.

"We have a saying that will be put in our locker room," Warming added.  "It states 'Some of us were born here, some of us were drawn here, but we are all here to be champions.'"

The Mavericks will host Creighton in the South Omaha Classic exhibition game on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m.  They open the regular season schedule at home against UC Davis (Aug. 24) and Clemson (Aug. 26).
