Omaha Welcomes Missouri State to Caniglia on Friday

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha men's soccer team continues its four-match homestand on Friday, Aug. 31, welcoming Missouri State.  Friday's game begins at 7 p.m. from Caniglia Field.

Scouting Omaha (0-2-0)
Omaha is 0-2-0 this season, following losses to UC Davis (1-0) and No. 11 Clemson (1-0) last weekend.  The Mavericks were 7-1-2 at home last season, with a record of 5-1-1 in non-conference games.

The Mavericks return 17 letterwinners, including five starters from last season's squad.  This year's new-look team has 13 newcomers, including four transfer athletes.

Bob Warming is in his first season leading the Omaha men's soccer program.  Warming is the third-winningest active NCAA Division I coach with 461 wins.

From the Touch Line
-    Sophomore Diego Gutierrez leads the team with six shots and two shots on goal.
-    Junior Marcos Bautista and freshman Martin Veys each have one shot on frame.  Veys has taken four total shots while Bautista has three.
-    Bautista, Veys, Hugo Ellouk and Matt Smith all started for the first time in their career last weekend.
-    Junior Seth Rinderknecht and sophomore Stevie Siy were both on the Summit League Players to Watch list.
-    The 2017 Mavericks qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
-    Omaha, which has been a member of the Summit League since 2012, has two Summit League regular-season titles and one tournament crown in seven years.
-    Sophomore Miguel Gomez dished out four assists in 2017 while Siy and senior Cole Nelson added three each.

Scouting Missouri State (1-0-1)
The Bears are 1-0-1 this season with a 3-1 win over UMKC and a 1-1 draw with Cal State Fullerton.  The United Soccer Coaches West Regional rankings released on Tuesday have Missouri State ranked No. 5.

Aadne Bruseth, Jake Buckle, Dylan DeJong and Josh Dolling are tied for the team lead with one goal, while Bruseth leads the team with three points.  Goalkeeper Michael Creek has played every minute in net for the Bears with a 0.86 goals-against average and a .667 save percentage.

The Bears return eight starters from last year's 9-5-3 squad (5-2-1 MVC).  Missouri State is the defending Missouri Valley regular season champions and was picked to repeat as champs in the 2018 preseason poll. Conor Ingram and Ben Stroud picked up preseason Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference honors.
