NEWTON, Kan. – The Omaha men's golf team took seventh place at the Summit League Championship at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Mavericks fired a team score of 299, tying their ninth-best round of the season, to close the championship with a total of 930.  North Dakota State took home the league championship with a score of 893, edging runner-up Denver by two strokes.  South Dakota took third at 909.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond led the Mavericks in scoring from start to finish.  He closed the championship with his second even-par round of 72 of the event to finish at 221, good for a tie for fourth in the field of 40 golfers.  He was named to the Summit All-Tournament Team for his top-five individual finish.  Both of his rounds of 72 tied his season best.
Chantrakantanond is the third Maverick to earn an all-tournament nod.  
Kevin Gordon and 
Ben Maskus did so during the 2016 championship.
Jonah Wright, playing in just his fourth tournament of the year, was second on the team and tied for 23rd overall with a total of 235.  He shot a round of 77 on day three.
Sam Musch carded a 76 in round three, his best of the championship, to finish at 237.  He was third on the team and 28th overall.  He finished two strokes ahead of 
David Huxham who shot his best round of the tournament, 74, to close at 239.  He tied for 33rd overall.
Cole Christain completed the scoring with a round of 77 that gave him a total score of 244, good for 38th.
