NEWTON, Kan. – 
Thirawat Chantrakantanond shot an even-par score of 72 to lead the Omaha men's golf team after the first round of the Summit League Championship.
The Mavericks shot 305 and are in sixth place as a team in a tightly packed field.  All eight teams are separated by 14 strokes.  Denver leads after the first 18 holes with a score of 294, six over par.  North Dakota State is second at 296, and Western Illinois is in third at 298.
Chantrakantanond fired five birdies in the opening round and matched his best round of the season.  He's tied for third in the field of 40 golfers.
David Huxham and 
Jonah Wright tied for second on the team and 22nd overall with matching rounds of 77, five over par.
Cole Christain shot 79 in the opening round and sits in a tie for 30th, and 
Sam Musch carded an 81 to sit in a tie for 36th.
The second of three rounds from the Sand Creek Station Golf Club gets underway on Monday at 8 a.m. with the Mavericks scheduled to begin teeing off at 8:50 a.m.
