Mavericks 12th After Day One at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Omaha men's golf team sits in 12th place after the first two rounds of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate on Monday.

The Mavericks shot team scores of 303 and 299 in rounds one and two to put them at 602 for the 54-hole tournament.  Host Arkansas State leads the event with a score of 549.  Its "B" team is second at 565, and Tennessee Martin is third at 575.

David Huxham and Cole Christain tied for the team scoring lead at 147, putting them in a tie for 31st in the field of 74 players.  Huxham opened with a one-under round of 71 and came back with a card of 76.  Christain shot 75 in the first round and closed the day with an even-par round of 72.

Thirawat Chantrakantanond and Jonah Wright both shot 154 over the first two rounds to tie for third on the team and tie for 56th overall.  Chantrakantanond carded scores of 78 and 76 while Wright put up rounds of 79 and 75.

Patrick Ravn closed the team scoring with a total of 164 that included rounds of 81 and 83 to put him 73rd.  Austin Palubeskie, playing as an individual, shot 85-81 for a total of 166.

The final round begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Ridgepoint Country Club.
