EL MACERO, Calif. – The Omaha men's golf team took 13th place at the El Macero Classic on Sunday.
The Mavericks shot a final-round team score of 326 at the El Macero Country Club and closed the 54-hole event with a tally of 969. Co-host Nevada won the tournament with a score of 879. UCLA finished second at 889, and Texas Tech and CSU Fullerton tied for third at 891.
Jonah Wright led the Mavericks in scoring throughout the tournament, finishing with a score of 241. He shot 83 in the final round to finish 62nd overall in the field of 81 golfers.
David Huxham and
Thirawat Chantrakantanond tied for second at 244, good for a tie for 66th. Huxham shot 84 in round three while Chantrakantanond closed with a card of 80.
Cole Christain was fourth in team scoring, one stroke back at 245. He had the team's low round of the day – 79 – and tied for 69th.
Patrick Ravn closed the scoring with a total of 249 that included a final round of 86.
The Mavericks will now get ready for the Summit League Championship on Sunday-Tuesday, April 29-May 1.
