IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Omaha men's tennis team lost a 7-0 match to No. 42 Iowa on Sunday evening.
The Hawkeyes claimed straight-set victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to lead 1-0.
Iowa went in front 3-0 with straight-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Abdoul Ouattara lost a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Piotr Smietana at No. 2.
Nathan Reekie fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 to Kareem Allad.
Razvan Grigorescu lost a split set match to Josh Silverstein at No. 1, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5). The Hawkeyes completed the sweep with straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 5-9 on the season (0-1 Summit League). The Hawkeyes are now 8-6 (0-0 Big 10).
Omaha returns to conference play next weekend, visiting Oral Roberts on Friday, March 9. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
