OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory over Summit League opponent Oral Roberts Sunday afternoon from the Miracle Hill Tennis Center. The Senior Day victory propels the Mavericks to 9-8 (2-0 Summit League) and drops the Golden Eagles to 8-8 (0-2 Summit League).

Omaha had a good start to the day, winning two out of the three doubles matches to clinch the first point. The No. 2 doubles pair of Savanna Crowell and Natalie Lorentz doubled up Jovana Antonijevic and Gorana Kadijevic, 6-3. The No. 1 duo of Michelle Lo and Janelle Wilson easily defeated Ceijenia Cornelius and Andrea Vasiljevic, 6-2.

The success followed the Mavericks into singles competition, where they won five out of the six matches to claim victory. Emily Behling, competing at No. 6, quickly defeated Valentina Gisbert, 6-1, 6-2. The match at No. 3 then went unfinished after Marie Kapelevich retired Vasiljevic, 6-3, 4-3. Crowell, slotted at No. 5, claimed a win over Brenda Mercado, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, and Wilson ousted Antonijevic at the No. 2 position, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. Lo battled past Kadijevic at No. 1, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) in her final home match.

"Today was a very exciting win," head coach Adam Summitt said. "We knew ORU was going to be tough today, and we came ready to play. I'm very happy with the way we handled adversity. We need to continue to play like this the rest of the season. On a finishing note, it was fitting to see Michelle finish her home career with a win."

The Omaha women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, March 23 at 2 p.m., taking on Valparaiso.
