PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Omaha men's golf team took 15th place at the Grand Canyon Invitational on Saturday at the GCU Golf Course.
The Mavericks closed the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 301, giving them a final tally of 909. Missouri won the event with a score of 850, two strokes ahead of runner up Pacific. Host Grand Canyon was third at 856.
Cole Christain led the Mavericks in scoring and finished in a tie for 30th in the field of 93 golfers. He shot 73 in the final round for a three-round total of 219. He was a stroke ahead of teammate
David Huxham who closed the tournament with a score of 74 to finish at 220. He tied for 40th overall.
Jonah Wright was third for UNO and tied for 82nd overall with a 54-hole score of 234 that included a final round of 74.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond was fourth on the team, two strokes behind Wright at 236. He closed the tournament with a score of 80 and finished 87th.
Sam Musch concluded the scoring for the Mavericks with a final round of 87 that gave him a total score of 252.
The Mavericks have two weeks off before competing in the Arkansas State Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate on April 2-3 in Jonesboro, Ark.
