OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team dropped a 6-0 decision to UMKC Thursday evening at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 5-12 overall (0-2 Summit League) while the Kangaroos improved to 4-7 on the year.
Omaha and UMKC split the first two doubles matches played.
Matt Dunn and
Luke Moorhead dispatched Anil Patel and Hunter Clark 6-1 at No. 3. The Kangaroos evened things at 1-1 with a win at No. 1. The visitors claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 2.
The Kangaroos kept the momentum by capturing five straight singles matches.
Matt Dunn fell 7-6 (5), 6-3 at No. 3 to Tom Kruse. Airam Castellano downed
Razvan Grigorescu in a split-set affair 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).
The Mavericks hit the road for three matches next week for Spring Break. Omaha visits Lamar on Monday, March 19. First serve in Beaumont, Texas, is scheduled for 3 p.m. UNO then plays a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M on Tuesday, March 20 starting at 10 a.m.
