OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to non-conference foe North Dakota Sunday morning at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.  The loss drops the Mavericks to 2-5 (0-0 Summit League) this season.

Omaha won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.  The No.1 pair of freshmen Savanna Crowell and Natalie Lorentz powered through Carmen Palumbo and Preethi Kasilingam, 6-4.  Then, the No. 2 duo of sophomores Rylee Tucker and Emily Behling defeated Jaylee Yasunaga and Isa Sullivan, 7-5.

The Fighting Hawks claimed four of the six matches in singles competition to earn the 4-3 victory.  Crowell, slotted at No. 2, had no problem with Sullivan, 6-3, 6-0.  Then freshman Marie Kapelevich, competing at the No. 4 position, defeated Jaylee Yasunaga, 6-0, 6-4.

"We had a long weekend come to an end today. They were not the results we wanted, but we had some injuries occur over the weekend which forced us to shuffle our lineups around," head coach Adam Summitt said. "We had players playing out of the positions they normally would. They all understood and went out and did the best job they could.  We will get healthy and get back to full strength next week."

Omaha returns to action on Friday, Feb. 16, hosting Northern Iowa at 6 p.m. at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
