DES MOINES, Iowa – The Omaha men's tennis team overcame an early deficit to defeat George Washington 4-3 on Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Colonials took the doubles point 2-1.
Matt Dunn and
Luke Moorhead stopped Amlan Sahoo and Kaan Tuna 6-0 at No. 3. George Washington regrouped topped Omaha at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to claim the doubles point.
The Mavericks responded by winning four of the six singles matches. Moorhead and
Marko Minic each won identical 6-1, 6-1 matches at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Abdoul Ouattara made it 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Chris Fletcher at No. 2.
Razvan Grigorescu then clinched the match for UNO with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Chris Reynolds at No. 1. GW closed the match with straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4.
With the win, the Mavericks are 5-7 on the season, while the Colonials dropped to 0-11.
Omaha returns to the court next weekend, visiting Oklahoma State. First serve from Stillwater, Okla., is set for 5 p.m.
