SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Omaha men's golf team finished 13th at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor, their spring season-opening tournament.

The Mavericks shot a final round team score of 302 to finish at 903 for the 54-hole event at The Club at Savannah Harbor.  That put them at +39 for the tournament.

Host William and Mary won the event with a score of 854, edging Austin Peay at 857.  South Carolina Beaufort was third at 862.

"There were a lot of positives to take away from the week," said head coach Seth Porter.  "Obviously some mistakes were made, but that is to be expected after a long layoff. We probably made more mental errors than physical ones, which is a good sign.

"We can reduce the amount of mental errors before the next event. Overall, there was progress made this week, and I am looking forward to seeing the team improve in the next couple of weeks."

David Huxham led the Mavericks in scoring with a five-over-par score of 221 that included a final-round card of 75.  He finished in a tie for 25th in the field of 83 golfers.

Thirawat Chantrakantanond was second on the team and tied for 34th overall with a total of 223, seven over par.  He finished the tournament with a round of 77.

Cole Christain and Sam Musch both shot 75 in the final round and finished 3-4 respectively on the team.  Christain tied for 62nd with a total of 230 while Musch was 67th with a score of 232.

Kelly Brown finished the scoring for UNO with a final round of 80 that put him at 237 for the tournament.

The Mavericks return to action at the Sacramento State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 5-6.
