NORMAL, Ill. – The Omaha swimming and diving program dropped its fourth meet of the regular season with a 176.5-66.5 result.
"We had some very good swims tonight," said head coach
Todd Samland. "We were also up against another very strong team. We tip our hats to Illinois State for putting up some very fast swims. It was an opportunity for us to see what we need to improve upon and what it takes to perform well two days in a row. It is now time for us to refine some skills as we prepare for our big midseason meet the Kansas Classic."
The Mavericks tallied multiple runner-up finishes at the meet. In the 1,000-yard freestyle,
Kylie Vermeire tallied second with a time of 10:43.46, followed by
Lizzy Giese in third with a 10:49.13.
Kirsten Kracke and
Madison Ewald finished second and third in the 50-yard free with times of 24.71 and 25.09, respectively.
Annika Clinton finished runner-up in the 1-meter dive with a score of 258.00 and in the 3-meter dive with a total of 272.17.
With a time of 55.01,
Kylene Abraham finished second in the 100-yard free, while Vermeire recorded her second runner-up finish of the meet in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.05.
The Mavericks now set their sights to a pair of meets in the midwest. The swimming team competes in the Kansas Classic Nov. 16-18 in Topeka, Kan., while the diving team preps for the Hawkeye Invite, which takes place Nov. 15-17.
