OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha track & field head coach
Chris Richardson announced today the signing of Carrie Simonson to a National Letter of Intent today. She will join the Mavericks for the 2019-20 academic year.
"We are thrilled to add a talent like Carrie to our team," said Richardson. "Her speed and explosiveness in the jumps and sprints should have an immediate impact on the team.
"I'm very excited to see her grow as a student-athlete within the Maverick family," Richardson added.
Simonson is a native of Springfield, Neb. and is currently in her senior year at Platteview High School. She has already earned three letters in track & field in the sprints and long jump. As a junior, she qualified for and medaled in four events at the state meet. She also broke three school records last season.
Simonson has qualified for the state meet in each of her three seasons in track & field at Platteview. She also has earned three letters in softball, earning all-conference first team and all-state honorable mention as a junior.
