Men’s Tennis Takes Part in ITA All-American Championship


TULSA, Okla. – The Omaha men's tennis team continued its fall schedule at the 2018 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship.

In the pre-qualifying draw, Abdoul Ouattara upset Morgan Dill of Wake Forest 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.  Ouattara fell in the next round to Carles Sarrio of SMU 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Hugo Piles opened with a split-set win over N.C. State's Tristan Smith 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.  Texas' Colin Markes ended Piles run in the next round 6-2, 6-0.

Davis Lawley fell to Bertus Kruger of TCU 6-2, 6-2.  Lawley then defeated Andre Russo of Oral Roberts 6-2, 6-3.

Razvan Grigorescu had a bye until the qualifying round.  Grigorescu opened his tournament with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Arizona's Alejandro Reguant.  In the next round, he lost a split set affair to Alex Knaff of Florida State 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

The duo of Lawley and Ouattara fell in straight sets to Old Dominion's nationally ranked team of Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli 6-3, 6-1.

The Mavericks return to Tulsa in two weeks to take part in the ITA Central Region Championships, Oct. 18-22.
