Omaha Tops Oral Roberts in Overtime, 2-1


TULSA, Okla. – Martin Veys scored the game-winner in the second overtime to propel Omaha past Oral Roberts 2-1 on Saturday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Mavericks are now 5-7-1 overall and 3-1 in Summit League play, while the Golden Eagles fell to 6-6-3 (0-2-2).

Oral Roberts got on the board first in the 30th minute.  Cole Fedorczyk took a ball on the right side and scored from 12 yards out to put the Golden Eagles in front 1-0.  Tanguy Guerineau earned the assist.

Omaha leveled the match in the 86th minute.  Denzel Woods dribbled past an Oral Roberts defender before placing his shot into the far corner to make the score 1-1.

The Mavericks scored the game-winner in the 105th minute.  Veys gathered a ball in the penalty area and fired a shot from six yards out that went in off the far right post to give Omaha the 2-1 victory.

Turning Point
Oral Roberts' Max Roetcisoender received a red card in the 61st minute forcing the Golden Eagles to play a man down the rest of the match.

•    Omaha outshot Oral Roberts 28-8 and held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.
•    The Mavericks also led in corner kicks 9-4.
•    Woods scored his second goal of the season, while Veys netted his fourth.
