Omaha Set for Final Road Match at Oral Roberts

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team caps its final regular-season road swing of the year this Saturday, Oct. 27, visiting Oral Roberts.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex.

From the Touchline
•    Omaha was shut out by Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday, 2-0, at Caniglia Field.
•    It was the fifth time this season that the Mavericks were shutout at home.
•    UNO is 2-2 overall on the road this season with both wins against Summit League foes.
•    Omaha had road matches against Drake (Oct. 6) and SMU (Oct. 9) canceled due to field conditions.
•    Gutierrez leads the Mavericks in points (19), goals (7), assists (5), shots (38) and shots on goal (20) through 11 contests.  He is third in The Summit League in points, goals, assists and shots.
•    The Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll picked Omaha to finish second.  The Mavericks garnered 22 total points, including two first-place votes.
•    Junior Seth Rinderknecht and sophomore Stevie Siy earned spots on the league's Players to Watch list.
•    UNO captured the 2017 Summit League Tournament championship by defeating regular-season champion Denver 9-8 in an 11 round shootout.  The victory allowed Omaha to qualify for the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament for the first time in program history.
•    UNO became a member of the Summit League in 2012 and claimed a share of two league regular-season crowns and one postseason tournament title in seven seasons.

Scouting the Omaha Mavericks
Omaha is 4-7-1 overall and 2-1 in The Summit League.  The Mavericks lost a 2-0 decision Tuesday to Cal State Fullerton.  UNO is in second place in the league standings with six points and has two games remaining.

Diego Gutierrez leads the Mavericks in every scoring category this season with 19 points on seven goals and five assists.  Martin Veys is next with seven points on three goals and an assist.  Mitch Hammer and Denzel Woods have four points each.  Hammer has two goals, while Woods has a goal and two assists.  Marcos Bautista has three points on a goal and an assist.  Billy Hoffmann also has one goal.  Seth Rinderknecht has two assists.

Ugo Tritz has appeared in nine games with eight starts and has a 4-3-1 record with three shutouts.  Tritz has allowed 10 goals for a 1.15 goals against average and made 36 saves for a .783 save percentage.  Last week, he earned The Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honor.  Sophomore Matt Smith has made four starts with an 0-4 mark,  Smith has allowed seven goals for a 2.00 goals-against average and made six saves for a .462 save percentage.

Scouting the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
Oral Roberts is 6-5-3 overall and 0-1-2 in The Summit League.  The Golden Eagles are fifth place in The Summit League standings with two points and has two league matches remaining.  ORU fell to crosstown rival Tulsa on Tuesday, 5-1.

Oral Roberts has outscored (24-21) its opponents, but have been outshot (216-145) this season.  Head coach Ryan Bush is in his sixth season leading the Golden Eagles with a career record of 37-49-16.  Chris Taylor and Brian McCurdy each are assistant coaches.

Tracking the Golden Eagles
•    No. 7 Junior Chavez (Jr., F) is the team leader with 16 points on six goals and four assists.
•    No. 12 Dante Brigida (So., F) leads ORU with six goals.  Brigida also has an assist and 13 points.
•    No. 8 Tanguy Guerineau (RJr., F) adds 12 points on four goals and four assists.
•    No. 0 Miles Motakey (Fr., GK) has started 11 matches and has a 5-4-2 record with three shutouts.  Motakey has allowed 16 goals for a 1.35 goals against average and made 62 saves for a .795 save percentage.
•    No. 1 Nicolas Mertzokat (RSr., GK) has started three matches with a 1-1-1 record.  Mertzokat has allowed five goals for a 1.55 goals-against average and made nine saves for a .643 save percentage.

Series History
Saturday's meeting is the ninth all-time meeting between Omaha and Oral Roberts with UNO holding a 4-3-1 advantage.  The Mavericks toppled the Golden Eagles 2-0 in Omaha.  (Nov. 4, 2017)

The Mavericks conclude the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 3, against Eastern Illinois.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Caniglia Field.  Following the match, Omaha will honor its three seniors.
