VALENTINE, Neb. – Senior
Kevin Gordon closed a sterling string of golf with an even-par round of 72 to finish in a tie for seventh at The Jackrabbit hosted by South Dakota State.
Gordon posted a 54-hole score of 214, two under par, tying the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in school history and putting him in a tie for seventh in the event. Tuesday's final round helped Gordon to his second straight top 10 finish. He was second with a school-record round of 206 at SIUE a week earlier.
As a team, the Mavericks finished 12th out of 13 teams with a score of 917. Kansas won the event with a score of 845. UCF was second at 856, and UMKC and Idaho tied for third at 874.
Nick Kagy was second on the team and finished 56th overall with a total of 233, a score that included a final round of 77. He finished three strokes ahead of
Witchayapat Sinsrang who shot 79 in the third round and posted a total of 236. He tied for 58th.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond was fourth on the team and tied for 60th overall with a score of 237. He closed the tournament with a round of 80.
Cole Christain wrapped up the scoring with a total of 238 that featured a final round of 80. He tied for 63rd.
The Mavericks will finish their fall schedule at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate in Powells Point, N.C. on Oct. 21-23.
