Mavericks Come In Fourth at UNO Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – David Huxham shot one-under 70 in the final round to lead the Omaha men's golf team to fourth place at the UNO Invitational on Saturday.

The Mavericks shot a team score of 301 in the final round of their season-opening tournament to finish at 900 for the 54-hole event.  North Dakota State won the team championship with a score of 867.  Northern Iowa was second at 877, and Creighton took third at 880.  

Huxham got off to a good start with birdies on three of the first six holes.  He finished the day with four birdies for his second-best career round.  He led the Mavericks and tied for third with a three-round score of 217, a career best.

Kevin Gordon was second for UNO and tied for 19th overall with a score of 227 that included a final round of 79.  He finished two strokes ahead of Bank Chantrakantanond who shot 77 in round three to finish at 229, good for 21st overall.

Kelly Brown finished with his best round of the tournament, a 75, to post a total score of 237.  He tied for 30th overall.  Patrick Ravn concluded the scoring with a total of 243 that featured a final round of 87.  He was in a tie for 34th overall.

Cole Christain, playing as an individual, was one-over 72 in the final round to tie Huxham at 217.  Sam Musch, also playing as an individual, concluded with a tournament-best round of 75 and had a total score of 232 to put him in a tie for 24th overall.

The Mavericks are back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26, at the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIUE.
