No. 21 Omaha Tops Houston Baptist, 1-0

EDINBURG, Texas – No. 21 Omaha stayed perfect with a 1-0 win over Houston Baptist in the opener of the UTRGV Invitational.  Elvir Ibisevic scored his third goal of the season for the game-winner.

The Mavericks improved to 3-0 (0-0 Summit League), while the Huskies fell to 0-1 (0-0 WAC) overall.

Houston Baptist had two early chances to score, but goalkeeper Joseph Ghitis was able to stop both shots.

Omaha scored its lone goal in the 14th minute.  Miguel Gomez launched a cross into the box where Ibisevic headed the ball into the net for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The Mavericks continued the offensive pressure in the second half forcing HBU goalkeeper Chance Pope to make a pair of saves.

Turning Point
Houston Baptist had their best scoring chance of the evening, but Malik Key's shot ricocheted off the post in the 70th minute.
