Mavericks Fourth at UNO Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Omaha men's golf team is in fourth place after the first two rounds of their season opening tournament, the UNO Invitational, on Friday.

The Mavericks posted team scores of 303 and 296 over 36 holes at ArborLinks to put them at 599 for the 54-hole event.  North Dakota State leads with a score of 580, seven strokes ahead of Creighton at 587.  Northern Iowa is third at 594.

David Huxham led the Mavericks on day one with rounds of 76 and even-par 71 for a total of 147, good for a tie for seventh place overall.

He is one stroke ahead of teammate Kevin Gordon who shot 73-75 for a total of 148 to put him in a tie for ninth.

Newcomer Bank Chantrakantanond was third on the team and tied for 21st overall with a score of 152 that featured rounds of 77 and 75.  He was four ahead of freshman Patrick Ravn who carded scores of 71 and 75 in his first collegiate event to finish the day at 156, good for 26th.

Kelly Brown wrapped up the scoring for UNO with a total of 162 that included scores of 77 and 85.

Newcomer Cole Christain, playing as an individual, is fourth overall after shooting an even-par round of 71 and following with a 74 for a total of 145.  Sam Musch, also playing as an individual, shot 78-79-157 to put him in a tie for 27th.

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
