OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team swept Hastings 7-0 on Friday evening at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center. With the win, the Mavericks are 5-6 (0-0 Summit League) overall, while the Broncos fall to 0-2 (0-0 Summit League).
UNO swept doubles play to clinch the point. Senior John Ellis and sophomore Matt Dunn teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 3. Sophomore Alex Woodward and freshman Nathan Reekie clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 2. Senior Colin Buckley and freshman Razvan Grigorescu completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Omaha did not drop a set in singles action. Ellis was first off the court with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Tanner Sandvick. Dunn was next off with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4. Reekie and Buckley each won by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Woodward topped Dakota Burns 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5. Grigorescu wrapped up the sweep with a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 1 over Zach Inman.
