Mavericks Fifth After Day One at Drake

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Omaha men's golf team is in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Zach Johnson Invitational at Drake.

The Mavericks shot team scores of 301 and 303 in the first two rounds to sit at 604 for the 54-hole event.  South Dakota leads the tournament with a score of 586.  Indian Hills Community College is one stroke back, and Drake is third at 593.

Kevin Gordon leads the Mavericks in scoring and is tied for seventh with a four-over total of 146.  He shot rounds of 72 and 74.  

David Huxham is second on the team and tied for 11th after shooting 72 and 77 for a total of 149.  Bank Chantrakantanond is four strokes back in third on the team with a total of 153.  He carded scores of 76 and 77 to put him in a tie for 28th.

Sam Musch was fourth for the Mavericks and tied for 44th overall at 157.  His day featured rounds of 82 and 75.  Pat Ravn finished the scoring for UNO at 162.  He fired matching scores of 81.

Kelly Brown, playing as an individual, shot 75 and 78 for a total of 153 which has him in a tie for 28th.

The final round from the Glen Oaks Country Club begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
