OMAHA, Neb. – More than 100 minutes were not enough to separate the Omaha Mavericks and the DePaul Blue Demons as the two squads played to a 1-1 draw Friday night at Caniglia Field.

The draw moved Omaha to 2-1-2 on the year, while DePaul went to 2-1-2 overall.

For the third-straight match, Fazlo Alihodzic tallied a goal for the Mavericks.  Alihodzic found himself on the end of a well-placed pass from Lalo Gamboa.  Gamboa's pass found Alihodzic inside the penalty area, where he beat a Blue Demon defender and slipped a shot under the goalkeeper.  The goal put Omaha ahead 26 minutes into the match, 1-0.

The visitors leveled the score 18 minutes into the second half.  John Freitag was able to split a pair of defenders and put a ball on the foot of Simon Megally.  Megally was able to direct his touch to Erik Rodriguez who slotted a shot past the goalkeeper to tie the game, 1-1.

In the waning minutes of regulation, Alihodzic sent a corner kick into the penalty area.  The ball found the head of Elvir Ibisevic who nodded the shot just wide.

In the Mavericks' second consecutive overtime match of the season, neither team could notch the game-winner over the 20 minutes of extra time, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Ibisevic led all players with three shots on the night, one of which was on frame.  Omaha ended the game outshooting DePaul by a total of 14-5, with two of those UNO attempts coming in overtime.

Goalkeeper Joseph Ghitis made two saves on the day, while Quentin Low made four saves for the Blue Demons.

Omaha returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 11, facing Penn.  The match is set for 2 p.m., and links to live stats and video will be available on OMavs.com.
