OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team visits Oral Roberts for a Summit League match this Saturday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla.
Last time out, Omaha dropped a nail biter to IUPUI by a score of 4-3. The Mavericks fell to 10-13 (1-2 Summit League) on the season.
Freshman Alex Woodward and sophomore Marko Minic are pacing the Mavs with eight singles wins each. Woodward is 8-12 while posting victories at the No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 positions. Minic is 8-13 with wins at No. 3 and 4 singles. The pair has tied Erik Anderson's team record for number of singles wins in a season.
The team of junior Colin Buckley and sophomore Ignace Warson have a 6-12 record this season playing every match at No. 1. Anderson and Woodward also have six doubles wins on the season playing at No. 2 and No. 3. Freshman Matt Dunn has been part of 12 doubles wins this season, including a 6-2 record when partnering with John Ellis.
Oral Roberts comes into the match with a 12-10 mark (2-2 Summit League) after falling to Denver on April 8, 6-1. The Golden Eagles are led by Michael Sosnowski who has a 13-7 record with victories at the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions. The top doubles pair for the Golden Eagles is the team of Sosnowski and Braxton Bates who are 11-4 on the season.
Omaha will conclude its regular on April 23 with a home matchup against South Dakota State at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
