Men's Tennis Welcomes Nebraska, Hastings, and Midland

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team will welcome Nebraska, Hastings, and Midland to the Miracle Hill Tennis Center this weekend. The Mavs will host Nebraska on Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m. Omaha will take on Hastings at 4 p.m. on Sunday, followed by Midland at 7 p.m.

Omaha is 3-7 overall and 0-1 in Summit League play.  Junior John Ellis and freshman Alex Woodward lead the Mavericks with three wins each in singles.  In doubles play, the duo of Colin Buckley and Ignace Warson own a 3-6 mark at the top doubles spot.  The first year duo of Matt Dunn and Brent McKnight are 3-3 this season playing both at the No.2 and No. 3 spots.

The Cornhuskers bring a 5-3 record into the matchup with Omaha. Nebraska is riding a two match win streak defeating New Mexico State on Feb. 13, (6-1), and Creighton on Feb. 27, (7-0).

Hastings sports a 1-2 record going into Sunday. The Broncos were victorious over Ottawa University, 9-0, but were bested by Augustana (SD), 3-6, and Bethany College, 2-7.

Midland carries a 9-2 record into Omaha. The Warriors come into the match with a six match winning streak, most recently defeating Central Christian College on Feb. 27, 9-0.

Last time out, Omaha fell to crosstown rival Creighton, 7-0, at the Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis Center.

Omaha will host Illinois-Chicago next weekend. The Mavericks take on the Flames on Mar. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis Center.
